By 2017 it would be adopted as the primary hashtag for activities related to both the Chief Information Officer Branch of TBS as well as the new Canadian Digital Service, in addition to becoming commonly used across the GC for issues related to tech and service design in government
• 2017, June 29 - a #w2p celebrates #Canada150 meet-up event is held to bring back together members of the former #w2p community. The positive reaction to this event in part led to the launch of the series of #GCdigital meet-ups starting on July 20th of the same year.
• 2017, July - the Canadian Digital Service (based out of Treasury Board Secretariat) is publicly launched 
• 2017, July 20 - the first #GCdigital meet-up is held as an attempt to restart a regular community event for those interested in tech and government modernization issues. Many of the organizers were "alumni" of the original #w2p community. Of note, a seemingly larger percentage of participants were from outside the public service (consultants, students, tech companies) than during previous #w2p events. Subsequently a number of #GCdigital meet-ups have been held (September 6 2017; October 31 2017; February 7 2018, May 3 2018), primarily organized by members of the CDS team.
